S-PLUS® 7 Download and Installation Guide

Note: E-academy’s website supports Internet Explorer 5.x and Netscape 6.x or above.

 

 

DOWNLOAD

 

1.       You will receive an email containing your E-academy login information.  The email will contain the subject line ‘You Are Registered’.  (NB: if you do not receive this email or have accidentally deleted it, you can visit http://estore.e-academy.com and use the ‘Forgot Password’ feature to have it resent to you)

 

2.       Log in to the e-academy website with your Username and Password and click on ‘My Software’ to view the licensed software.

 

3.       In order to download the software, select the S-PLUS® software and click ‘Download’.

 

4.       On the following page, click ‘Download Software'.  This will prompt you to download a small '.exe' file, approximately 400kb, which is used to download and unlock the software.

 

5.       It is recommended to save this file to your desktop and double click to run.  The delivery client will open up and take you through four steps that are necessary to download your product.  (NB: if the icon does not appear as a purple circle with a yellow lightning bolt, possibly if the file type is not recognized by the operating system or the extension has been stripped, try adding .exe to the end of the filename)

a.        Authorization: This is automatically performed by our system, provided your account is active.

b.       Downloading: Once you select a Download location, click on Continue in order to download the file.

c.        Unpacking: This step is performed automatically, and the encrypted downloaded file is unpacked into a format that can be used for installation.

d.       Launch Install: Once you click on the “Launch Install” button, the S-PLUS® installer should automatically start.

 

6.       When the download is complete, click on the Launch button to begin the installation, or go to the location where you saved the file and double-click on the S-PLUS® installation executable file.

 

7.       The software installation wizard will begin automatically.  Please follow the instructions provided by S-PLUS®' installation wizard.

 

NOTE: You will need to read these instructions prior to installing the software. Please print this page and keep handing during your installation. There is also a document provided with the CD that contains the instructions on how to install this program.

 

 

INSTALLATION & LICENSING

You will need the following items to complete the installation:

·         S-PLUS® 7 for Windows

·         Serial Number: WTS12345674

·         Web Registration Code
NOTE: This code begins with WT followed by a dash, and two more groups of numbers, separated by a dash, for example: WT-123-1234567

Can’t find web registration code? 

·         Log in to the e-academy website with your Username and Password

·         click on ‘My Software’ to view the licensed software

·         Select the S-PLUS® software and click ‘Download’

 

All of these items should have been provided to you by e-academy when downloading the software. If you did not receive any of these items, please contact e-academy support for further assistance.

 

Installing S-PLUS® 7 for Windows

1.       From the Opener menu, choose the first option, "Install/Configure S-PLUS on your system"

 

2.       Follow the installation prompts to install S-PLUS®. When prompted for a serial number, enter: WTS12345674
NOTE: If you have a previous version of S-PLUS® installed on your machine, be certain to install S-PLUS® 7 to a different, empty directory.

 

3.       Obtain a license key to run S-PLUS® following the steps below:

    1. Open an internet-connected web browser to:
      http://keys.insightful.com
    2. Select "I have a Web Registration Code (beginning with WT)"
    3. Enter the required registration information. This information will only be used by Insightful. View our privacy policy at
      http://www.insightful.com/company/privacypolicy.asp
      Be sure to remember the username and password you select.
      Click the Submit button after completing the form.
    4. Log on to the licensing website using the username and password created when registering.
    5. On the Generate or View Licenses page, enter the Web Registration Code you received from E-Academy in the field labeled "Authorization Code" then click the "Redeem" button.
    6. There are two options for generating and installing your license key file. Please select one of the following options. We recommend option 1 for most users.

 

OPTION 1
NOTE: Your computer must be internet-connected in order to use this option.

1.       Close your web browser and start S-PLUS® by double-clicking the S-PLUS® icon on your desktop, or by going to Start -> Programs -> S-PLUS 7.0 -> S-PLUS

2.       The Insightful License Fulfillment Wizard should start automatically. Follow the instructions, and when prompted for a License Authorization Code, enter your Web Registration Code from step (e) above. Your license key will automatically be downloaded and installed, and S-PLUS® should start up automatically.

 

OPTION 2

1.       You should be automatically directed to the "Select Items to Fulfill" page. If not, log into the Insightful License Fulfillment website using your username and password and then click the "Generate Licenses" button.

2.       In the "Node-locked Hostid Type" field, select "ETHERNET" from the drop-down list. In the "Node-locked Hostid" field, enter your computer's unique system hostid. This can be found on the bottom of the Insightful License Fulfillment Wizard dialog by going to Start -> Programs -> S-PLUS 7.0 -> Wizard for License Manager. Click the "Generate" button when finished.

3.       On the "Confirm your Selection" page, confirm that your hostid was entered correctly, then click the "Confirm" button. Your license key will be generated.

4.       Click the "Save to File" button to save the license file to your hard drive. Save the file to the adm/lic/keys folder under your top-level S-PLUS® installation directory. By default this is:
C:\Program Files\Insightful\splus70\adm\lic\keys

5.       Logout of the License Fulfillment website. Start S-PLUS® using the S-PLUS® icon on your desktop or by going to Start -> Programs -> S-PLUS 7.0 -> S-PLUS

6.       S-PLUS® 7 is now ready to use. Your license will expire 1 year from the date of installation.
